What Matters Enough That You'll Do It Scared?

Do Something That Scares You

Braving Something That Matters To You = Doing It Scared

Dear Reader,

Lately, I've been moving between faith and fear as I brave what feels like a lot of risk in my body. I've been writing new songs, recording them in the studio, and now - on Monday (eeeek!) - I am making a music video for the first time. Holy shift, that feels like a whole new level of visibility, and gulp - vulnerability.

Writing songs at home, practicing with my vocal coach, jamming with the band, and recording in the studio - it's all my happy places and they're safe cocoons for my heart and my artistry.

Hiring a crew, putting money on the line, having people show up for me, receiving all that support, and bringing myself fully - the mystic, the priestess, the revolutionary, the peace activist, the protecting what is sacred fierce feminine - well it feels like opening up the kimono and revealing my soul.

But here's the thing: anytime we step into a new level of risk and braving something our hearts long for, our nervous system and our shadow will come lurching into the hallways of the psyche and say, "No, that's unfamiliar and scary! Stay where it's safe."

Unfortunately for you and me, this translates into staying small and denying life, which my friend, is no bueno. I don't want that for me or for you.

Often, when I write you these emails, I've come through the other side of a thing and I sound really confident and like the guide I want to show up as for you.

Today, I'm coming to you as a fellow human, doing something that matters to me, and doing it scared. It's my belief, that if I'm asking you to brave some heart warrior shit, I've also in the trenches remembering my breath and trusting life and where my soul is being led.

I imagine you have your own scenario here - somewhere you are afraid of taking a risk, somewhere that keeps calling, maybe even haunting you a little bit. Drop me a note, I'd love to know what dream or wish or desire is.

One last thing I'll say here: I'm not doing this alone. I have a small yet powerful network of support. You deserve that too.

With warmth and care,

Decisions Are Portals How Fear Robs Us Of Our Power Dear Reader, I've been thinking about the power of decisions in my own life and how this translates to my work I do with amazing humans like you. Recently, I made a set of powerful decisions and the journey I have been on has been staggeringly beautiful and power unleashing. Some of you know I'm a songwriter as well as a coach. I left the music industry nearly 15 years ago - in full nervous breakdown burnout from the external pressure and...

The Wounds We Bring to Love How the past lives inside our present relationships. Dear Reader, What we call relationship problems are often nervous system events. A racing heart.A tightening chest.A sudden collapse into silence or urgency. And underneath it all — a much older story still trying to complete itself. Many of us long for a love where we do not disappear to stay connected, and do not harden to stay safe. But most of us were not taught secure love.We were taught survival. So we...

Do Not Delay Stop Postponing the Work That Would Change Your Life Dear Reader, There will always be a reason to wait. And waiting is costing you more than you think. Not enough time.Too much going on.After the next trip. After the kids settle. After work slows down. There is always a reason to postpone. And postponing is expensive. It costs you sleep. It costs you energy. It costs you closeness. It costs you the version of you that feels steady, clear, and alive. We tell ourselves the right moment...
